No, trobinson97. There's new free chests in Elona that will drop a Gold item or a jewel AND give the character a lot of gold. Like, 500+ to a few plat.

Across 3 chars about 25k so far. Best drops were a ruby, req 9 tactics Diamond Aegis, and a req 9 dual winged axe. Been getting alot of Scrying Glass Staffs. Out of about 15 treasures, 5 were Scrying Glass Staffs.

Is there a specific place these "free chests" spawn? My understanding is that they need no key and give you some nice drops, is that right? *rushes out of DVG and to Elona*

LOL yesterday was a lucky day:
- req 9 (TAT) Ancient shield MAX with crappy mods
- req 9 (TAT) Iridescent aegis MAX with crappy mods
- req 9 (Command) Suntouched Shield Max crappy mods
- req 11 Amber Aegis MAX (command) crappy mods
- req 11 portal staff max damage but with HSR 19/20%
- some others stuffs....hammer max damage
and plus 35K

Only 3 are worth keeping and a ruby, rest are junk(max mod though),

These are what i got right out of those treasure chests,

Shield of Lion, +30,-5(20%), req 9 (sold it for 100k)
Dual wing axe, zealous,15^50,+30hp, req 9 (keeping it for my warrior)
Ancient daggers, +30,zealous,+5e, req 9(selling it)

Did get a 14-20 adamantine falchion

, but i am not complaining.

All in all, this is a pretty good winterdays surprise.

funny thing is that....ive always gotten at least 1k outta these chests with my lv 20 sin....BUT when i opened two chests with my lv 13 Paragon, i only managed to get 500 from ea

I've found that depending on where the treasure is will determine the drops.

Buried treasure in Istan will only give you 500g or so, whereas treasure in Vabbi, Realm of Torment etc will give better rewards.

I hit all the locations on my 3 characters who've gone through Nightfall. Got some very good stuff, usually my luck with random drops is horrific. Not to mention the money, which funded some long-awaited acquisations nicely. The best stuff includes:

Iridescent Aegis (req 9 tac) +28 health / -5 (19%)
Shield of the Lion (req 9 str) +44 (stance) / -5 (19%)
2 rubies, 2 sapphires
Bramble Flatbow 5/1, 15>50, +29

And some other nice stuff for my heroes and myself to use too. Plus a crapload of nice inscriptions for future use. (really need a special storage for them too, they clog up my storage)
